Brazil mid-February 2012: New gen Fiat Palio on podium

The Brazilian car market is up 5% over the first half of February at 136,786 registrations. The VW Gol leads the models ranking with 11,293 sales and 8.3% share, nearly one percentage point above the Fiat Uno at 10,116 units and 7.4%. For the first time since April 2010, the Fiat Palio is on the Brazilian podium with 6,459 sales and 4.7%. The rest of the year will decide whether this new generation Palio is a success or not.
The Fiat Strada is up to #6 with 3.5% of the market, the Toyota Corolla is up to #14 at 1.7% and the Chevrolet Cobalt catches its breath, down 7 spots on January to #17. The Chevrolet Cruze at #20 and Nissan March at #21 reach their highest ranking ever in Brazil as does the new generation VW Jetta at #26. Notice also the Chery QQ up to #58 and the Peugeot 308 breaking into the Brazilian Top 150 for the first time at #140.
