The Slovenian car market is down 4% in December to 3,280 units, bringing the final 2011 total to 58,417 registrations, down 3%. In December, the Opel Astra is up to #2, the Kia Rio up 7 spots to #6 with 80 sales and 2.4% share, the Chevrolet Aveo lodges its 2nd month in a row in the Top 10 at #9 with 76 units and 2.3% and the Opel Zafira Tourer has a fantastic first month of sales in Slovenia, landing directly at #18 with 53 sales and 1.6%.
Over the full year 2011, no surprises in pole position: the Renault Clio takes the top spot with 3,806 sales and 6.5%, down 5%. I know for sure that the Renault Clio has been the best-selling car in Slovenia since 2003 but I estimate its reign to have started in 1998 when production of the 2nd generation started in the country. Therefore it should be the 14th consecutive year the Clio is #1!
In fact the entire Top 5 is unchanged on 2010…a bit boring. The Renault Megane is #2 at 2,644 units and 4.5% (-5%), followed by the VW Polo (-6%), VW Golf (-21%) and Opel Astra (-22%). The Opel Corsa is up 2 spots to #6 while the Skoda Octavia is up 8 ranks and 11% to #7.
Further down the 2011 ranking, notice the VW Passat up 86% to #14, Opel Meriva up 59% to #20, Citroen C4 up 123% to #26, Ford Kuga up 175% to #31 and Dacia Duster up 218% to #35. The all-new Hyundai ix20 lands directly at #41 with 440 units and 0.8% share.
