Algeria June 2011: Chevrolet Sail confirms Top 10 spot – UPDATED

Extremely healthy new car market in Algeria with sales up a massive 40% year-on-year in June at 27,215 units and up 28% over the 1st Half of 2011 at 149,174 registrations. The Renault Symbol stays distant leader with 3,703 sales and 13.6% share, 11.7% over 6 months.
In June the Peugeot 207 reclaims the 2nd spots it holds over 2011 with 2,275 sales and 8.4%, a much stronger share than in its native France! Its year-to-date figure for 2011 is up a whopping 114%. The prehistorical Hyundai Atos and Accent follow, the Toyota Hilux is strong at #5 and the Suzuki Alto stays robust at #6 with close to 5% of the Algerian market.
For only its 2nd month of sale in the country, the Chevrolet Sail, directly imported from China, improves its May score by 57% to reach 903 sales and 3.3% share and maintain itself in the Top 10 in 10th place. Notice the Zotye Nomad 4WD at #41 with 150 sales.
