First of all an update on the sales figures of two significant new “UK” models: the Range Rover Evoque sold 101 units in June, mostly dealership models given the official launch is scheduled for September 2011. As a comparison the Range Rover Sport sells an average of 700 units each month in the UK, while the Range Rover sells around 340 units/month.

Officially launched in May and after selling 36 units that month, the MG6 progresses to a still very confidential 41 units in June. Very weak figures but it will be fascinating to follow its progression over the next few month to see whether the MG brand is actually truly being resurrected in the UK.

The British car market has now been declining for a full year or 12 consecutive months, down 6% in June at 183,125 registrations and 7% year-to-date at 1,029,638 sales. The Ford Fiesta stays #1 for the 9th time in the last 12 months at 8,829 units and 4.8%, ahead of the Ford Focus at 4.4% and the Vauxhall Corsa at 4.3%.

The performer of the month is the Vauxhall Insignia: 2 1/2 years after its launch, it is at a best-ever 4th place with 5,929 sales and 3.2%, ahead of its little sister the Astra. The BMW 1 Series also reaches its best position ever in the UK at #9 and 4,077 units, its fourth time in the Top 10 after October 08, September 09 and 10.

Boosted by the Countryman version, the Mini is up to #7 with 4,778 sales and 2.6% share and is now within the year-to-date Top 10 at #10 with 18,619 units and 1.8%. Note the Mercedes C Class up to #12 year-to-date, the VW Passat up to #14 and the Vauxhall Meriva up to #18.
