* Now updated with the Top 60 best-selling models over 6 months 2011: see ‘Read more’! *

Thanks to Lancia Lover at www.autoweek.nl, I can share with you the Top 60 best-selling models in Europe over the first 6 months of 2011. Not the latest figures but still rare so worth clicking away… This ranking covers 29 countries so figures are slightly higher than the JATO numbers I publish every month.

Notice the Fiat 500 up to #16, the Mercedes C Class up to #23 and the BMW 5 Series passing the 3 Series for the first time in Europe at #26. The Audi A1 continues to progress at #42 and the Peugeot 508 breaks into the European Top 60 for the very first time at #59 with 40,244 sales.

Ford Focus

New car sales in Europe are down 8% in June at 1,262,855 registrations and 1.4% over the first Half of 2011. No surprises on top: the VW Golf reigns supreme with 41,113 sales and 3.3% share, down 9%, ahead of the Ford Fiesta at 33,567 units, down only 1%. The Opel Corsa snaps the 3rd step of the podium at 33,133 sales, above the VW Polo at 31,590.

For the first time since September 2009 (21 months), the Ford Focus is back in the European Top 5 thanks to the new generation gearing up at #5 with 30,790 sales, up a massive 36% year-on-year. Its year-to-date figure is now also positive, #7 with 149,328 sales, up 2%.
