Austria May 2011: VW Golf leads, Opel Meriva in Top 5

Car sales in Austria are up a very healthy 18% in May at 34,393 registrations and 14% year-to-date at 155,575 units. The VW Golf enjoys its 15th consecutive month atop the Austrian models ranking and even improves its market share to 5.3% this month thanks to 1,829 sales. The VW Polo takes the 2nd spot at 1,156 units (3.4%) ahead of the Opel Astra (2.4%) and Seat Ibiza (2.3%), the May Top 4 exactly reflecting the year-to-date Top 4 in the country.

Another solid month for the Opel Meriva, ranking within the Top 5 for the 2nd time this year after January in 5th place with 731 sales and 2.1%. Other good performers this month include the Fiat Punto at #16, the Hyundai ix20 at #31 and the facelifted Peugeot 308 at #33, up 40 spots on April!

    wow vw is good in this country! especially with the Gulf + and Sharan.
