Venezuela May 2011: Locally built Jeep Grand Cherokee up to #4
The Venezuelan car market is down slightly this month at -1.6% and 10,228 registrations, bringing its 5 months 2011 total to 45,449 units and -7%. The Chevrolet Aveo is more dominant than ever with 2,434 sales and a massive 23.8% share, followed by the Ford Fiesta at 6.4% and the Chevrolet LUV at 5.8%.
Built in the country or “Hecho en Venezuela” as Jeep’s website says, the Jeep Grand Cherokee new generation is up to a shiny 4th place with 534 sales and 5.2% share vs. #13 year-to-date at 3%. Other good performers this month include the Ford F150 at #8 (+6), the Hyundai Elantra – the model built in Venezuela is the 2000 generation – at #10 and the Hyundai Getz at #17.
