Germany April 2011: VW Golf stronger

The German car sales’ newfound growth is slowing down: up 3% in April at 266,251 registrations. For the third time in four months this year, VW monopolises the podium: the VW Golf/Plus/Jetta reaches its best share since September 2010 at 8.6% with 22,867 sales. The VW Passat ranks 2nd at 3.3% and the VW Polo is 3rd at 2.9%, all shares being close to their 2011 year-to-date levels.
The Opel Astra stays strong at #4 and 2.6%, the Mercedes C Class is back in the game at #5, its best position since November 2010 and the VW Touran is up 6 spots at #8. The Mini reaches its highest level in over a year in 18th place and 3,734 sales. The Hyundai i30 is the best-selling foreign model anew at #22, ahead of the Nissan Qashqai (#26) and the Fiat Ducato (#28) in exceptional shape, up 20 spots over March.
Notice the Mercedes SLK at #61 (1,112 sales), the Porsche 911 at #87 (683 sales), the Porsche Panamera at #157 (248 sales) and the Mercedes SLS AMG at #170 (162 sales).
