New Caledonia April 2011: Dacia Duster passes Ford Ranger

Dacia Duster

Thanks to Yves Levy from Noumea, I am now able to share with you the models ranking in New Caledonia… Many thanks Yves! New Caledonia is not a country as such, it is an overseas French territory in Oceania. However the best selling cars are so radically different from mainland France that they definitely warrant a separate treatment.

Ford was the best selling brand in New Caledonia in 2010, and the Ford Ranger has been a long-term best-seller here. In April though, it was toppled from its throne by an extremely in shape Dacia Duster! Dacia is doing very well here, with the Sandero #9 this month and the Logan #9 in March.

Japanese and Korean 4WDs are very well represented in the New Caledonian Top 10: the Toyota Hilux is #4, the Kia Sportage #5, the Kia Sorento #10 and the Hyundai ix35 was #4 in March. French passenger cars are surprisingly scarce: the Renault Clio, Peugeot 206 and, interestingly, Citroen DS3 are the only ones able to find their way into the Top 10 over the last 2 months.
