
The Slovak car market continues its excellent run at +38% in February with 4,803 registrations. For the first time in over a year, the Skoda Fabia is very close (1 unit!) to the #1 spot, still held by the Skoda Octavia at 396 sales (8.2%).
Similarly to neighbour Czech Republic, Slovak consumers have fallen for the Dacia Duster, up to a fantastic 5th spot at 129 sales and 2.7%. The Suzuki SX4 (3.4%) and Renault Thalia (2.9%) also progress in 3rd and 4th place.

Daihatsu Move Custom

In February the Daihatsu Move is the best selling Kei car in Japan for the 2nd month in a row with 16,230 sales, keeping at bay the Suzuki Wagon R, the best seller for the last 8 years, still #2 this month at 14,355 units.
The Daihatsu Tanto rounds off the podium at 13,765 sales. The Suzuki Alto and Honda Life are stable in 4th and 5th positions, so is the new Suzuki MR Wagon at #10 at 3,282 sales.

Hyundai i10
Car sales are up a whopping 34% in Denmark in February at 11,565 registrations. The Chevrolet Spark is #1 for the third time in 4 months, a significant achievement in a market as volatile as Denmark. Its 6% market share is also no mean feat given all models were under 3% in the Full Year 2010 ranking.
The Hyundai i10 takes the 2nd spot at a brilliant 4%, followed by the Opel Corsa and Toyota Aygo both at 3.4%. The Suzuki Swift is stabe at a solid 3% share, compared to 1.3% in 2010. The new Citroen C4 breaks into the Top 10 at #9.

The Romanian car market is up 22% in February but stays very limited at 3,238 registrations. Only four models sell more than 100 units this month and the Top 4 stays unchanged. The Dacia Logan gains 6 percentage points on January at 21% share but is still way below its 2010 level (26.2%).
The Skoda Octavia is almost 2 percentage points above its 2010 share at an excellent 7.5% and 243 sales. The Dacia Duster seems to have found its place on the podium, 3rd again this month at 4.4%, ahead of the VW Golf at 3.3%. The Skoda Fabia shines in 5th (2.9%).

Toyota Innova in Hanoi, Vietnam December 2010
Vietnamese car sales continue to impress, after +48% in January, they are up 56% in February at 7,889 registrations. The Toyota Innova builds itself a comfortable margin at 573 sales and 7.3%, with the Toyota Fortuner back to #2 at 443 sales (5.6%).
The Top 5 is identical to the 2010 ranking: the Toyota Corolla Altis and Vios follow only 2 and 4 units behind the Fortuner, and the Daewoo Lacetti is 5th at 4.7%. Notice the Nissan Grand Livina breaking into the Top 20 at 1% of the market.

Kia Venga
Polish car sales are down 3% this month at 24,535 units. Skoda is in shape: the Octavia improves its share to a brilliant 6.8% at 1,661 sales and the Fabia climbs back to #2 at 1,162 sales and 4.7%. Both are way above their 2010 shares.
The Fiat Punto ranks 3rd at 3.4%, ahead of the Opel Astra (3.2%). The ranking takes a bit of shake up this month with no less than 9 new entries in the Top 20. Leading these, the Kia Venga breaks into the Top 10 for the first time in Poland as well as any country in the world (it is not sold in South Korea) at #8 with 522 sales and 2.1%.

Nissan Livina
After a record-breaking January, Taiwanese car sales are rather quiet in February at 17,396 units. Nissan has an excellent month, placing the Nissan Tiida on top of the ranking with 1,130 sales and 6.5% and the Nissan Livina at #3 with 812 sales and 4.7%.
The Toyota Corolla drops to #2 at 1,090 units (6.3%) but stays by far the best selling car in the country year-to-date with 6,437 units changing hands in 2 months and 9.1% market share. Good performances of the Mazda3 at #6 (3.5%) and the Nissan Teana at #11 (2.6%).

Nissan Leaf
*Best Selling Cars offers its condoleances to the victims of the Sendai earthquake & tsunami*
It’s a good month for ‘green’ cars in Japan: the Toyota Prius climbs back to the top of the ranking with 19,110 sales, and the all-electric Nissan Leaf makes its entry in the Top 30 at #25 with 2,593 sales, up from 981 in January.
Leader last month, the Honda Fit is now #2 with a still very strong 16,876 sales (+21% year-on-year), just ahead of the new gen Toyota Vitz (aka Yaris), up 50% at 16,484 units sold. The Nissan Serena is very solid this month at #4 (+16%) and the new gen Toyota Ractis continues to do well at #6 (+45%). Other newbies the Suzuki Solio is 15th and the Nissan Juke is 20th.

Citroen C4

Still boosted by December 2010 orders being delivered now, the French car market is up 13% in February at a record-breaking 204,486 registrations. The Renault Clio is #1 for the second month in a row at 5.9% share, just ahead of the Peugeot 207 at 5.7%.
The Renault Twingo slows down but stays 3rd, followed by a very solid Citroen C3 at 3.7%. The Peugeot 206+ increases its share further to a best-ever 3.5%, and the Ford Fiesta is the best selling foreign model this month at #9, with the VW Polo at #10.
The new Citroen C4 continues its progression, now #11 at 4,704 sales and 2.3%, so does the Peugeot 508 at #37 with 1,673 units (0.8%). The Duster is now Dacia’s best seller at #16 and the new Nissan Micra is #42.

VW Clasico
The Mexican car market is up a healthy 13% in February at 66,990 registrations. For once the Nissan Tsuru is not the best selling car this month, the honour going to the old generation Jetta and recently renamed VW Clasico. It’s been a while since the Tsuru was last outsold so this is a month to remember in Mexico!
Probably benefitting from its new status as ‘low cost’ car, the VW Clasico clocks up 5,141 sales or 7.7% of the market, 109 more than the Tsuru at 7.5%. The Nissan Tiida sedan is holding well at 4,081 sales and 6.1%. The new VW Jetta gears up at #5 (+2 spots on January) with 1,874 sales and 2.8%.
