Uruguay 2010: Chevrolet Classic best seller, Chery at +263%

The Uruguayan car market is on fire in 2010: with 42,675 registrations, it’s up 64% on 2009 and constitutes a new record for the country, beating the 36,771 units figure from 1998.

Chevrolet dominates at 27.3% market share and sales up 92%, It was the first brand to sell more than 1,000 cars in a month in Uruguay (in March), reiterating this feat 6 more times this year. The Chevrolet Classic, a 1993 Opel Corsa restyled in 2010, is the best-selling car in the country.

No models ranking is available, only the brands one which shows VW (+67%) and Fiat (+26%) keeping their respective 2nd and 3rd places. The big event this year is the fantastic arrival of Chery in 5th position with 1,984 sales (+263%!) and 4.6% of the Uruguayan market, ahead of well established brands like Peugeot, Ford, Renault, Toyota, Hyundai and Citroen!
