Denmark 2009: Toyota Avensis and Aygo lead the pack
The Danish car market is operating at a much lower level than usual this year at 112,346 registrations. Toyota holds the first two spots: the new gen Toyota Avensis is the best selling car in the country for the second time in 4 years at 3,265 sales, and the Toyota Aygo is #2 like in 2008 just 40 sales below. Both cars hold 2.9% of the market.
The new Ford Fiesta lands on the podium in 3rd with 3,016 sales (2.7%), ahead of the Peugeot 207 at 2,947 units (2.6%). All other models are below 2.5% market share, making Denmark one of the most fragmented car markets in the world.
Remarkably, the ‘Kolin sisters’ are all within the Top 6 with the Citroen C1 #5 and the Peugeot 107 #6, and add up to no less than 8,500 sales or 7.6% of the Danish car market! Notice the Suzuki Alto at #8, the Opel Insignia at #9, the Suzuki Splash at #15 and the Hyundai i20 at #19.
