Brazil 2006: Gol #1 for 19th year, Palio on top twice
After +9% in 2004 and +10% in 2005, the Brazilian car market accelerates its growth, up 13% in 2006 at 1,830,402 registrations… The VW Gol celebrates 19 years on top of the Brazilian ranking out of the last 20, and delivers 189,132 units this year for a 10.3% market share.
The Fiat Palio achieves the unthinkable in September and October: it takes the lead ahead of the Gol! It is the first time since October 1994 and the Fiat Uno that another model than the Gol is on top of the monthly Brazilian ranking two months in a row… Overall the Palio is up 29% at 162,726 sales and 8.9%.
Fenavabre changes its methodology and now separates hatch and sedan versions. This helps the Chevrolet Celta climbs to #3 (6.9%) and the Fiat Uno to #4 (6.3%). The VW Fox/CrossFox is 5th (5.9%) ahead of the Chevrolet Corsa Sedan (5.8%). All 6 models above are at 100,000+ sales.
