Hungary 2005: New generation Suzuki Swift starts with a bang

The Hungarian market is down 4.3% year-on-year in 2005 to 199.068 registrations. Suzuki posts a 9th consecutive year atop the brands ranking, this time frankly outpacing the market at +16% to 19.7% share, followed by Opel at 12.1% and Skoda at 9%. Ford soars 24% and three spots to #4 and 8.8%, dislodging Volkswagen (-2%) and Renault (-38%) while Peugeot (-31%) and Chevrolet (-28%) also get hit hard in the Top 10. The Dacia revival is already a success story: up 202% and 6 spots on 2004 to end its first full year of sales at #15 above Hyundai, Mazda and Kia. Subaru (+149%), Jaguar (+92%), Land Rover (+83%), Mini (+73%) and BMW (+58%) impress.
Over in the models ranking, the new generation Suzuki Swift lands directly in the top spot for its first full year of sales in its country of production with just under 18.500 sales. Leader in 2004, the Suzuki Ignis (-24%) is knocked down to #2 while the Skoda Fabia (-4%) remains in third place, overtaking the Opel Astra Class (-15%), and the Ford Focus (+8%) rounds up the Top 5. The Peugeot 206 is now inside the Top 10, the Chevrolet Lacetti ranks 12th and the Dacia Logan points its bonnet just outside the Top 20 at #21.
