Romania 2005: Dacia Logan takes charge with 35.1% share in record market (251.407)
The Dacia Logan takes control of the Romanian new car market in 2005.

The Romanian car market is up another whopping 42.7% in 2005 to 251.407 units including 215.532 passenger cars, a new all-time record volume in Romania mostly due to an aggressive scrappage scheme in place in the country. Dacia (+41.6%) almost matches its home market growth to a stable 45.1% share while Renault (+97.6%) overtakes Daewoo (-24.9%) for the first time to hit #2 overall. Skoda (+95.6%) and Volkswagen (+76.6%) swerve pas Peugeot (+27.4%), with Chevrolet (+134%), Opel (+75.9%), Fiat (+68.4%) and Ford (+64.6%) all posting spectacular gains in the remainder of the Top 10.
This is the first year of a long reign by the Dacia Logan (+335.4%) up to 35.1% share for its first full year in market and a record 88.275 units. Its share of passenger cars is 41%, it was 43.2% halfway through the year. Surprisingly, the Dacia Pickup (-0.3%) is up two spots to #2 and 8% share, while the Daewoo Matiz (-35.5%) drops to #3 and the Renault Clio (+160.4%) resumes its import domination above the Skoda Octavia (+128.9%) and Renault Megane (+65%).
