The Filipino new car market is relatively stable over the period, starting at 85,588 registrations in 2002 to finish at 88,074 in 2004. The Toyota Revo is again the uncontested leader, celebrating 6 years on top of the Filipino ranking in 2004. It however sees its market share slide down from 13.7% in ’02 to 13% in ’03 and 10.7% in ’04, still outstanding figures.
The 2nd place changes each year: it is occupied by the Isuzu Crosswind in ’02 with 8,293 sales and 9.7%, the Honda CR-V surprises everyone and snatches the 2nd position in ’03 at 9,708 units and 10.5% before passing the relay to the good old Toyota Corolla, #2 in ’04 with 7,151 sales and 8.1%.
The Mitsubishi Adventure also fares very well over the period, peaking #4 in ’02 with 9.1% of the market. Finally, notice the arrival of the Toyota Vios in 2003, this Honda City-beater ranks #7 that year but jumps on the podium as early as ’04 with 6,700 sales and 7.6%, making the podium 100% Toyota for the first time ever in the Philippines…
