Launched in 1997 to replace the Carina, already very succesful in the country, the Toyota Avensis starts with a bang in Denmark and holds the pole position for its first full year of sales with 8,935 units sold. The Opel Astra ranks 2nd with 7,738 sales, followed by the VW Polo at 6,776 units. The Ford Escort/Focus and VW Golf round up the Top 5.
