Switzerland 1994: VW Golf reclaims top spot

267,000 new vehicles found a buyer in Switzerland in 1994, and after an interruption last year by the Opel Astra, the VW Golf reclaims the top spot in the models ranking thanks to 17,894 sales and 6.7% share, up 20% year-on-year, vs. 16,824 and 6.3% (+6%) for the Astra. The Opel Corsa is up one spot to climb on the third step of the podium at 8,674 units and 3.2%.
The Ford Mondeo is up 2 to #4 with 8,344 sales and 3.1%, ahead of the BMW 3 Series up 40% and 5 ranks to #5 and the VW Passat up 43% and 6 to #6. Notice also the Fiat Punto landing at #9, the Peugeot 306 up 58% to #12, the Mercedes C-Class arriving at #13 and the Renault Twingo up 110% to #14.
Switzerland is part of the early adopter countries when it comes to MPVs: the Renault Espace is up 9 spots to #18, the Chrysler Voyager is up 8 to #26 and the Toyota Previa is up 7 to #39. Finally, Subaru manages to place 3 models in the Swiss Top 50 like last year: the Legacy is #17 (-4), the Impreza #36 (+9) and the Justy #44 (-6).
