The Ford Escort remains the best-selling Passenger Car in the country for the 2nd year running, but it was by the skin of its teeth this time at 387,815 sales (-1%) vs. 380,301 for the Chevrolet Corsica/Beretta (+78%) and 374,627 for the Ford Taurus (+6%). The Honda Accord for its part continues its seemingly unstoppable progression at +8% to 362,683 sales but drops one spot on 1987 to #6 because of the Corsica’s surge.
