In 1987 the podium of the best-selling cars in South Africa is 100% Japanese: the Toyota Corolla keeps the lead, followed by the Mazda 323 and the Honda Ballade, a Civic sedan. The VW Golf/Jetta comes in 4th ahead of the Ford Escort. The BMW 3 Series drops to #8 and the Alfa Romeo Giulietta ranks 10th.
