Philippines Full Year 2025: Record sales, BYD up 446.5% to #3, Mitsubishi Xpander topples Toyota Vios

It’s another record year for the Filipino new vehicle market, up 3.8% year-on-year in 2025 to 492,558 units. Toyota (+5.5%) continues to enlarge its footprint in the market, up to a suffocating 46.2% share this year vs. 45.4% in 2024. In 2nd place, Mitsubishi (-2.6%) drops to 17.6% share vs. 18.8% a year ago. The success story of the year is without a doubt BYD, up a whopping 446.5% to 5.3% share vs. just 1% in 2024. The Chinese star carmaker is up from #11 to #3 in the brands ranking. Meanwhile Suzuki (+7.9%) overtakes both Ford (-22.2%) and Nissan (-23.2%) to rank #4. Honda (+4.8%) is the only additional gainer in the Top 10. Tesla appears at #13.
Model-wise, we have a big event on top: the Mitsubishi Xpander (+7%) ends 6 consecutive years of dominance by the Toyota Vios (-36.3%) for just 270 sales. The Toyota Avanza (+41.3%) jumps five ranks to end the year on the third step of the podium, distancing the Toyota Hilux (-10.9%), Hiace (+30.4%) and Wigo (+5.3%). The Toyota Tamaraw (aka Hilux Champ) lands directly at #9. Note BYD has not shared any models data.
