Iceland Full Year 2025: Tesla Model Y back on top in market up 42.3%

After sinking -41.7% in 2024, the Icelandic new car market bounces back up 42.3% in 2025 to 14,547 units. Kia (+49.5%) is the new favourite brand in the market with a 13.8% share, up from 13.1% last year. Tesla was down -84.1% in 2024 but is now up 237.7% to 13.1% share vs. 5.5% a year ago. Leader in 2024, Toyota (+6.2%) falls to third place, followed by Dacia (+15.3%) and Hyundai (-21%) both also underperforming. BYD surges 368.5% and 13 spots to break into the Top 10 at #8 with 3.5% share. Xpeng (+597.7%), Peugeot (+157.4%), Audi (+136.7%) and KGM (+113.8%) also impress.

Model-wise, the Tesla Model Y (+233.5%) is back in charge after ranking #1 in 2022 and 2023, holding 9.9% share vs. 4.2% last year and selling more than double any other vehicle in market. Best-seller in 2024, the Dacia Duster (-11.7%) is hit hard but still manages a second position, only one sale above the Kia Sportage (+61%) up one rank to #3. The Toyota RAV4 (+58.8%) also beats the market and gains one spot as well to #4. Rounding out the Top 5, the Tesla Model 3 (+261.1%) is up 15 ranks on last year. The Dacia Bigster (#6) and Kia EV3 (#7) are instant blockbusters while the Xpeng G6 (+782.1%) is up 65 spots to #13.
