Costa Rica Full Year 2025: Toyota Hilux and Suzuki Jimny dominate

The Suzuki Jimny is up to #2 in Costa Rica in 2025.

67,507 new light vehicles found a buyer in Costa Rica in 2025, a -7.3% year-on-year drop. Costa Rica is the American leader as far as EV sales are concerned, with a 17% share for 2025. Toyota (-14%) remains by far the most popular carmaker in the country with just under 20% share. It distances Nissan (-4%) improving to 9.7% share, Suzuki (-3%) up to 9.1% and BYD (+42%) surging to 6.5% of the market vs. 4.2% in 2024. Geely (+36%), Mitsubishi (+22%) and Kia (+19%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10.

Model-wise, this year the Toyota Hilux (+14.8%) is up two spots to snap the annual lead with 4.3% share. The Suzuki Jimny (+67.8%) does even better and climbs 6 ranks to land at an outstanding (and world best) 2nd place. The Toyota Yaris Cross (+24.6%) also impresses and rounds out the podium. Leader last year, the Toyota RAV4 (-25.9%) craters to #4 while the BYD Yuan Up (+284%) breaks into the Top 10 and lands directly at #5. The Suzuki Fronx (+254%) and BYD Seagull (+11%) also make their first appearance among the 10 best-selling vehicles in the country.
