Vietnam Full Year 2025: VinFast at 29% share, monopolises Top 4 with VF 3 at #1

According to data by local association VAMA and Hyundai, new vehicle sales in Vietnam grow 5.3% year-on-year in 2025 to 428,955 units. Adding local EV maker VinFast sends the annual tally to a record-breaking 604,054 sales. Indeed VinFast started sharing overall and models sales data in January 2025 and we now have a much more accurate picture of the Vietnamese market. This way VinFast storms into the pole position for the year with over 175,000 sales and 29% share. The domestic carmaker even peaked at 34.1% in November and 34% in December so we are still on a growing trend towards 2026. Toyota (+8.1%) holds onto the 2nd spot at 11.9% of the market, distancing Thaco-Kia (+3%) and last year’s leader, the embattled Hyundai (-20.8%). Ford steps up 19.6% to 8.4% share while Mitsubishi (+7.1%) is more measured but reached #2 with 11% share in December.

Over in the models charts, the VinFast VF 3 is the new best-seller with 7.4% share and ranked #1 five times this year. Only 672 units below is the VinFast VF 5 at 7.3%, also ending the month at #1 five times. However we have a new force in the market: the VinFast Limo Green, launched in September, reached 14.2% share in November and 13.5% in December, gearing up towards a 2026 first spot. The VF 6, at 3.9% share, completes a Top 4 monopolised by VinFast. #1 last year in VinFast’s absence, the Mitsubishi Xpander (+2%) is the best of the rest, followed by the Ford Ranger (+6.8%), Mazda CX-5 (+16.8%) and Mitsubishi Xforce (+5.9%).
