Ecuador Full Year 2025: Kia ends 30 years of Chevrolet dominance, Soluto dislodges D-Max

Ecuadorian new vehicle sales are up a splendid 15% year-on-year in 2025 to 124,505 units, however we remain below the 132,402 sales of 2023. We have an earth-shattering event in the brands charts: Kia (+14.4%) follows the market to end a stunning 30 consecutive years of Chevrolet domination, the latter down a dismal -21.5% YoY. Meanwhile Hyundai (+46.5%) is up one spot to #3 with 6.1% share and Chinese GWM (+85.1%) surges four ranks to #4. Toyota (-8%) is in difficulty and closes out the Top 5. Other great performers inside the Top 10 are Dongfeng (+61.7%), JAC (+36.3%), Renault (+31%) and Chery (+20%). BYD (+243.1%) storms into the Top 20 at #14.

Model-wise, we also have a big event as the Kia Soluto (+48.6%) soars to first place, ending three years of reign by the Chevrolet D-Max (-38.3%) imploding to 4.5% share vs. 8.3% last year. This is the first time the best-selling model in Ecuador is not a Chevrolet since at least 2006 when we started following this market. The GWM Poer (+100.5%) exactly doubles its sales year-on-year to climb to #3 overall and even topped the charts outright in December. The Chevrolet Groove (+23.1%) and Kia Sonet (+10.6%) are both pushed down one spot to #4 and #5 respectively. The Kia Sportage (+27.6%) and Seltos (+34.9%) follow.
