Nepal Fiscal Year 2081/82: BEVs account for 73% of sales

The Tata Xpres-T is the best-selling vehicle in Nepal over the period.

For the first time ever and thanks to one of our readers JFK we are able to share with you official sales data for Nepal. The period covered with the Nepali Fiscal Year 2081/82, which corresponds to mid-April 2024 to mid-April 2025. According to local press, BEVs account for a whopping 73% of the total Nepali market.

The Chinese are omnipresent and two brands dominate the BEV market: Tata (+46%) overtaking BYD (+15.1%). MG comes in third ahead of Dongfeng with Changan Deepal (+99.4%) rounding out the Top 5. Omoda & Jaecoo (+102.3%) follows just 2 units below. Leaomotor, Xpeng, Zeekr and AvatR are also selling in the country. 

Model-wise, the bet-seller is the Tata Xpres-T with almost 1,300 units. It is used as taxi. The BYD Dolphin is close behind, while the MG S5 EV closes the podium. It distances the BYD Atto 3 and Tata Punch EV.
