Europe November 2025: Renault Clio reclaims top spot, Renault 5 in Top 20
The Renault Clio is the best-seller in Europe for the 4th time this year.
The European new light vehicle market (EU+EFTA+UK) edges up 2.2% year-on-year in November to 1,054,655 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up just 1.8% to 12,119,467. ACEA has the market up 2.4% to 1,079,563 for the month and up 1.9% to 12,098,650 year-to-date. BEVs surge 37.3% to 253,768 and 23.5% share vs. 17.5% a year ago, and are up 27.4% YTD to 2,276,161 and 18.8% share vs. 15.1% through November 2024. The largest markets for BEVs are Germany at 55,741 (+58.5%), the UK at 39,965 (+3.6%), France at 34,293 (+47.5%), Norway at 19,427 (+77.6%), the Netherlands at 17,192 (+26.5%), Italy at 15,266 (+132.5%) and Denmark at 11,730 (+33.9%).
In the OEM charts, Volkswagen (+4.5%) beats the market to almost 300,000 units but Stellantis (-4.1%) is in trouble at #2. The Renault Group (+3.3%) is the only additional gainer in the Top 9, with the Toyota Group (-10.5%), Mercedes (-6.3%) and the Geely Group (-6.2%) hit the hardest. Ford Motor (-0.8%), the BMW Group (-1.3%) and Hyundai-Kia (-2.4%) limit their fall. SAIC Motor (+20.4%) excels at #10, Tesla (-10.7%) disappoints again and BYD (+229.8%) shoots up to #13.
Brand-wise, Volkswagen (+1.3%) edges up while Skoda (+5.2%) repeats at a record 2nd place. It is the 4th ever time Skoda ranks #2 in Europe after last May, July and October. BMW (+1%) overtakes Toyota, still struggling at -10.1%, to hold the third spot overall. Renault (+6%) repeats at #5, followed by Audi (+9.9%) up one spot to #6 and Mercedes (-6.3%) down one to #7. Dacia (-1.4%) is wobbly at #8 with Peugeot (-16.1%) and Hyundai (+3.5%) completing the Top 10. Below, Cupra (+25%), MG (+20.8%), BYD (+229.7%) and Fiat (+14.1%) stand out with at least double-digit gains. Jaecoo (+879.1%) and Leapmotor (+1372%) find their way into the Top 30 with Omoda (+143.5%) just outside at #31.

Looking at the models ranking, the Renault Clio (+14.1%) signs a 4th win of the year after April, May and June, but stays a distant 2nd year-to-date with sales up 5.2%. 46% of the nameplate’s sales come from France. The Dacia Sandero (-12.2%) drops one spot on October to #2 and leads the way YTD with over 225,000 sales and despite a -8.7% YoY drop. The VW T-Roc (+4.4%) is also down one rank to #3, a ranking it also holds year-to-date. Excellent showing for the Toyota Yaris Cross (+5%) up to #4 while the VW Golf (-9.2%) rounds out the Top 5 like YTD.
It’s a difficult month for the VW Tiguan (-17.8%) at #6, distancing the Toyota Yaris (-8.2%) also struggling. The Ford Puma (+28.5%) lodges the best performance in the Top 12, up to #8 for its second European Top 10 finish in the past 3 months. The Peugeot 208 (-22.1%) suffers at #9 above the Skoda Octavia (-5.4%). The Tesla Model 3 soars 52.7% YoY and 149 spots on last month to #13. The Skoda Elroq (+23471.7%) celebrates one year in market by repeating at a record #17 while the Renault 5 (+150.2%) cracks the Top 20 for the first time at #20, with 52% of its monthly total coming from France.
