South Africa October 2025: Biggest October in 11 years
The Suzuki Swift doubles its sales year-on-year.
It’s another excellent month for new vehicle sales in South Africa, scoring an 8th consecutive month of year-on-year double digit gains at +16% to 55,956. This is also the 13th straight month of lifts and the biggest October tally since 2014 (59,262). The year-to-date volume is now up 15.7% to 493,053. Brand leaders Toyota (+14%) and Suzuki (+14.7%) are strong but slightly trail the market to 24.2% and 12.3% share respectively, almost identical to their YTD levels. The Volkswagen Group (-1.9%) follows at #3 while Hyundai (+3.6%) overtakes Ford (-0.6%) for 4th place. GWM (+56.2%), Isuzu (+23.7%), Chery (+20.7%) and Kia (+19.9%) all impress in the remainder of the Top 10. Below, Stellantis (+129.1%) and Omoda/Jaecoo (+116.7%) stand out.
Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux (+27.2%) stays on top above the VW Polo Vivo (+16.6%), the latter accessing to the 2nd spot year-to-date, toppling the Ford Ranger (-8.2%) down to #5 for the month. The Suzuki Swift (+101.6%) and Isuzu D-Max (+26.8%) complete the Top 4. Excellent showing for the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro (+59.9%) up four spots on last month to #6, equalling its record ranking also hit in June 2024 and June 2025. The GWM Haval Jolion (+60%), Suzuki Fronx (+23.4%) and Toyota Starlet (+18.8%) also beat the market further down.
