Romania September 2025: Dacia Logan back to #1 YTD, Bigster breaks into Top 5

The Dacia Bigster is up to #5 at home.

New car sales in Romania bounce back up 38.9% year-on-year in September to 12,463 units, leading to a year-to-date tally off -5.8% to 108,771. Local behemoth Dacia (+93.7%) almost doubles its sales year-on-year to reach 33.1% share, its highest since last January. Sister brand Renault (+132.7%) also surges ahead to 9.1% of the market vs. #5 and 6.4% so far this year. Toyota (+28.7%) is down one spot on August to #3, followed by a strong Skoda (+43.1%) and a struggling Hyundai (-18.4%). Ford (+40.3%) also shines below while MG (+460%) breaks into the Romanian Top 10 for the very first time at #10. BYD (+11100%), Volvo (+124.6%) and Mazda (+120.4%) impress.

Model-wise, we have exactly the same scenario as in 2024. Outsold by the Dacia Duster (+97.7%) over the First Half, the Dacia Logan (+72.4%) reclaims the YTD top spot at end September and holds 14% share this month. This is the Logan’s highest share in three years: since September 2021 (14.7%). The Dacia Sandero (+64.3%) holds onto the third position while the Renault Clio (+369.7%) is up spectacularly YoY to rank #4, the nameplate’s highest ranking since January 2023 (#4 also). The new Dacia Bigster is up two spots on August to break into the Top 5 for the first time at #5. The Toyota Corolla (+35.9%) and Skoda Octavia (+80.1%) follow. The Dacia Jogger (+82.5%) is up to #8 for the 2nd time in the past three months. The Skoda Scala (+208%) and Ford Puma (+118.1%) round out the Top 10 in stunning fashion.
