Denmark September 2025: Tesla Model Y at best in 21 months, Renault 5 and BMW ix1 at record high
The Renault 5 is up to a record 5th place in September.
17,702 new cars found a buyer in Denmark in September, a sturdy 13.7% year-on-year improvement. The year-to-date volume is now up 6.2% to 134,097. Volkswagen (+8.2%) trails the market but remains in the brands lead with 14.2% share, a full two percentage points below its YTD level of 16.2%. Tesla (+20.5%) stops the rot and surges to 2,232 sales and 12.6%, by far its best performance of the year so far. Just 18 sales below is Skoda (+58.5%) also in excellent shape. Mercedes (-1.9%) struggles at #4, distancing BMW (+33.8%) and Renault (+211.5%), with the latter up to 6.9% share vs. 4.9% year-to-date. Cupra (+267.9%) continues to stun but is down 4 spots on a record August result. MG (+309.5%), Lexus (+157.5%) and Citroen (+105.6%) impress below.
Model-wise, the Tesla Model Y (+61.4%) soars to 11% share, its highest since December 2023. It is however stuck in third place year-to-date with sales off -22.5%. The success of the year, the Skoda Elroq, is strong again at 6.3% share vs. 5.6% so far this year where it ranks #1. At #3, the Enyaq (-18.3%) makes it two Skodas on the podium. The VW ID.4 (+32.8%) surges year-on-year but is down two ranks on last month to #4. The new Renault 5 is up 6 spots to #5, the nameplate’s new ranking record. The BMW ix1 (+234.4%) also stands at an all-time high position at #6 while the VW ID.Buzz (+10625%) is #7, Denmark being its best country worldwide. The VW ID.3 (-0.3%) and Renault Scenic (+171.1%) make it 9 BEVs in the Top 9.
