Uruguay August 2025: Fiat claws back on top, BYD breaks share record again
Fiat is the most popular carmaker in Uruguay in August for just 5 sales.
The Uruguayan new light vehicle market advances 2.9% year-on-year in August to 5,685 units, leading to a year-to-date volume up 9.1% to 42,466. After BYD spectacularly stormed into the overall brands pole position in July, this month Fiat (+6.5%) claws back on top, but for just 5 sales. BYD (+102.4%) is down to #2 but breaks its share record again at 13.1%. Chevrolet (-20.1%) is battered in third place as are Volkswagen (-12.7%) and Renault (-10.2%). In fact Dongfeng (+1750%!) and Suzuki (+5.3%) are the only two additional gainers in the Top 10, just as Hyundai (-33.4%), Citroen (-23.7%) and Peugeot (-3.9%) all slump. 29 of the 60 brands in activity in August are Chinese, holding a 30.5% share with sales up 81.6% year-on-year and vs. a 17.3% share in August 2024.
