Netherlands August 2025: Kia Picanto repeats at #1, Hyundai Inster inside Top 10
The Hyundai Inster cracks the Dutch Top 10 in August.
The Dutch new car market is off -2.7% year-on-year in August to 26,663 units. This means the year-to-date volume is now down -3.8% to 237,909. Kia (-2.5%) continues to dominate in the brands ranking with 10.2% share, while Toyota (+6.2%) exchanges spots woith Volkswagen (+32.9%) both for the month and year-to-date. Below, Skoda (+56.1%), Renault (+11.5%) and Hyundai (+26.7%) defy the negative market with solid gains. Mercedes (+0.1%) is the only additional Top 10 member in positive. Further down, notice Citroen (+79.1%), Cupra (+200.8%) and Polestar (+61.7%) all in outstanding shape. Tesla is down -49.8% to #13, a ranking it also holds year-to-date vs. #4 over the Full Year 2024.
Looking at the models charts, the Kia Picanto (+59.7%) lodges another fantastic performance to repeat at #1 with a dominant 4.2% share. The Skoda Elroq is back up one spot on July to 2nd place, its 5th consecutive podium finish. The Ford Kuga (+9.4%) also gains one rank to #4, followed by the Toyota Yaris Cross (+29.1%) and Aygo X (+8.4%). The Renault Clio (+29.6%) rallies back up 57 spots to #6 vs. #24 year-to-date, while this year’s leader, the new Kia EV3, dives from #2 in July to #7. Leader over the Full Year 2024 but down to #5 year-to-date, the Tesla Model Y craters -58.9% and ends the month at #8. The new Hyundai Inster breaks into the Dutch Top 10 for the first time at #9 while another recent launch, the Renault 5, is up to #13.
