Greece August 2025: Citroen (+207%), Opel (+107.8%) stand out in weak market

The Citroen C3 ranks at #3 in Greece in August.

8,191 new cars hit Greek roads in August, stable at +0.5% year-on-year. This is still a weak result given August 2024 was down -21.4% on the year prior. Year-to-date sales edge up 1.6% to 99,959. Toyota (-32.3%) easily holds onto the brands top spot with 15.6% and despite a ghastly year-on-year loss. Keep in mind the Japanese carmaker broke its Greek share record a year ago at 23.1%. Citroen (+207%) delivers the performance of the month and surges 14 spots on July to a fantastic 2nd place with 7.5% share vs. 4.9% year-to-date. Just below is Hyundai (+3.4%) followed by a struggling Peugeot (-16.2%). In contrast Opel (+107.8%), Dacia (+103.3%), BMW (+64.3%) and Renault (+56.4%) all impress in the remainder of the Top 10. Just outside, MG (+185%) also shines. Launched three months ago, Chery is up to #23 with 1% share.

The 2nd generation MG ZS is sold as ZS Max in Greece and ranks #9 this month.

Over in the models charts, the Toyota Yaris Cross (-25.7%) is a distant #1 despite a hefty YoY loss. It is however stuck at #2 year-to-date below the Peugeot 2008 (+14.2%) which ranks #2 for the month. The Citroen C3 (+163.9%) soars 37 ranks on last month to #3, distancing the Renault Clio (+61.7%) and BMW X1 (+57.5%) also in outstanding shape. The Dacia Duster (+373.2%) and Suzuki Swift (+44.9%) also make themselves noticed in the remainder of the Top 10 while the new MG ZS Max breaks its ranking record at #9 for its 2nd ever appearance inside the Greek Top 10. The Opel Frontera (#24) and MG 3 (#28) are the following best-selling recent launches, while the Citroen C3 Aircross (+462.1%) is pushed up to #14 thanks to the new generation.
