Finland August 2025: Toyota RAV4 repeats at #1, sales off -19.5%

The Toyota RAV4 is the most popular vehicle in Finland in August.

After two consecutive months of year-on-year gains, the Finnish new car market is back to hell in August at -19.5% to just 5,147 sales. The year-to-date tally is now down -5.4% to 47,010. Toyota (-12.3%) falls but improves its share to 17.6% vs. 15.4% so far this year where it is down -24%. Skoda (+7.5%) is the only gainer in the Top 5 at 10.6% share (9.7% YTD), keeping Volkswagen (-7.5%) at bay. Kia (-12.1%) passes Volvo (-37.6%) to #4 both for the month and year-to-date. BMW (+43.7%) lodges the best performance in the Top 10 and holds onto the 6th place which is also its YTD position. Ford (-3.3%) and Audi (-8.7%) limit their fall but Hyundai (-49.2%) and Mercedes (-28.9%) both freefall. Tesla is off  -57.7% for the month and -43.8% YTD. Mitsubishi (+58.7%), Dacia (+40.4%), BYD (+39.6%) and Polestar (+22%) shine below. 

Model-wise, the Toyota RAV4 (+57.5%) brilliantly repeats at #1 and now ranks 4th year-to-date. This means Toyota monopolises the YTD Top 4 alongside the Yaris Cross (-35.9% to #2 this month), Yaris (stable) and Corolla (-41.7%). The VW ID.4 (+27.5%) is back up five spots on July to #3, its second podium finish of the year after April (#3 also). The Skoda Elroq confirms its early success at #5. Notice also the VW ID.7 up 47.9% to #11, the Skoda Enyaq up 26.7% to #10 and the BMW X1 up 86.4% to #15. The Tesla Model Y sinks -50.8% to #12 and ranks #13 year-to-date vs. #3 over the Full Year 2024.
