China imports August 2025: Suzuki (+261.8%), BMW (+5.3%) highlight market down -14.3%
BMW 7 Series sales are up 14.9% in August.
Just 43,572 new cars were imported into China in August, a -14.3% YoY decline. The year-to-date volume is now off -11.5% to 369,338. Lexus (-3.1%) resists to continue dominating the brands charts head and shoulders at over 15,000 sales. Its YTD volume is up a superb 6.2%. Mercedes (-24.1%) and BMW (+5.3%) complete the podium as they do YTD. Porsche (-28.3%) overtakes Land Rover (-19.2%) despite a ghastly YoY fall. Suzuki (+261.8%) shoots up to repeat at #10 while Toyota (+1%) is the only additional gainer in the Top 10.
Model-wise, the Lexus ES (+0.7%) defies the negative market to stay in the lead with over 10,000 sales, followed by a strong Lexus RX (+8.1%). The Mercedes GLE (-39%) freefalls but climbs back up to #3, followed by the Lexus NX (-12.9%) and Porsche Cayenne (-11%) matching the market. The BMW 4 Series (+48.5%) impresses at #6 as does the Toyota Land Cruiser (+43.8%) at #10. Notice also the BMW 2 Series up 150.5%, the Mini up 78.1% and the Mercedes CLE up 20.8%.
