Chile August 2025: Toyota Hilux and Hyundai Grand i10 on top
The Hyundai Grand i10 smashes its ranking record to #2.
New light vehicle sales in Chile drop -3.1% year-on-year in August to 27,462 units but the year-to-date tally remains in positive at +2.1% to 199,999. Toyota (+38.1%) surges ahead to lodge its third consecutive monthly win at 8.6% share. It comments its YTD lead in the process. Hyundai (+2.3%) repeats at #2 with 8.4% of the market vs. 6.8% so far this year, keeping Suzuki (+14%) in third place. Chevrolet (-19.2%), Kia (-15.6%), Ford (-7%) and GWM (-15.1%) all disappoint below. In contrast Geely (+53.3%), JAC (+50.5%), Chery (+42.1%), Foton (+41.9%) and Jetour (+29%) all lead the Chinese charge. All in all, Chinese manufacturers hold 31.5% of the Chilean market this month vs. 30.7% year-to-date.
Model-wise, the Toyota HIlux (+24.3%) reclaims the top spot it holds year-to-date, followed this month by the Hyundai Grand i10 (27.1%) up 12 spots on July to #2. It smash its ranking record, its previous best being #7 in March 2024. The Chery Tiggo 2 remains the best-selling SUV in the country, ranking #3 for the month, ahead of the Mitsubishi L200 (+9.9%) and Suzuki Baleno (+23.2%) both defying the negative market. Leader last month, the GWM Poer (-5.5%) falls to #6 but stays in third place year-to-date. Excellent score by the Omoda C5 (+69.8%) up a further two ranks to #8. The Peugeot Partner (+120.5%) and Toyota Raize (+54%) also shine below.
