Indonesia July 2025: Market down -18.3%, Suzuki Fronx confirms instant success
The Suzuki Fronx repeats inside the Indonesian Top 10.
It’s another weak month for new vehicle sales in Indonesia: down -18.3% YoY in July to just 60,552. The year-to-date volume is now off -10.1% to 435,390, keeping in mind the 2024 YTD total was already down -17.4% on the year prior. It’s no better for retail sales down -17% to 62,770 for the month and down -10.8% to 453,278. In the wholesales brands charts, Toyota (-30.3%) remains the uncontested leader with 31.2% share, distancing Daihatsu (-24.9%). Suzuki (+11.1%) goes against the grain with a splendid double-digit gain, overtaking Mitsubishi to close out the podium with 9.9% share vs. 7.6% so far this year. Chinese fares Chery (+104.2%) and BYD (+21.3%) sport the only additional lifts in the Top 10, ranking at #9 and #6 respectively. Retail-wise, Suzuki (+0.5%), BYD (+38.1%) and Chery (+138.8%) are also the only Top 10 members in positive.
Over in the models charts, the Toyota Kijang Innova (-37.4%) sinks but still manages a 7th consecutive monthly win with 7.1% of the market. The Toyota Avanza (-20.1%) is back up two spots on last month to #2 ahead of the Daihatsu Gran Max Pikap (-32.8%) and Sigra (-39.1%). The Toyota Calya (-32.3%) isn’t doing any better and rounds out the Top 5. Launched just last month, the Suzuki Fronx repeats at #9 with 3.6% share, confirming its status of instant blockbuster. The Suzuki Carry Pikap (+1.8%) stands out with a year-on-year uptick, with the Honda HR-V (+117%), Daihatsu Gran Max BV/MB and Terios (+22.8%) also strong below.
