China imports July 2025: Sales down -20.3%, Mercedes Maybach S-Class in Top 10
The Mercedes Maybach S-Class is the 8th best-selling import in China in July.
Another dismal month for import sales in China, a disappearing species. They are off -20.3% to 44,545 for the month and down -12.9% to 324,677 year-to-date. Leader Lexus (-5.5%) once again beats the market to remain a distant leader. It is followed by Mercedes (-24.1%) and BMW (-26.1%) while Porsche (-17.3%) stays above Land Rover (-32.5%). Toyota (+1.5%) manages a small gain at #7 but the performer of the month is Suzuki (+449.2%) up 5-fold on July 2024 to #10 thanks to the success of the Jimny. Maserati (+175.2%) also shines at #12.
Model-wise, the Lexus ES (-13.5%) is the best-seller as usual, even selling more than any other brand in market. The Lexus RX (+11.7%) impresses while the Range Rover (+0.3%) is up four spots on June to land on the third step of the podium. The Mercedes GLE (-50.5%) implodes and leaves its 2nd place YTD to the Lexus RX. The Lexus NX (+15.3%) surges at #5, distancing the Porsche Cayenne (-5.8%) and BMW 4 Series (+9.2%) both down one rank on last month to #6 and #7 respectively. The Mercedes Maybach S-Class (+23.3%) breaks into the Top 10 for the 2nd time this year at #8 (also in January at #7).
