Austria July 2025: Sales up 31.6%, Dacia Bigster up to world best #2

The Dacia Bigster is the 2nd best-selling vehicle in Austria in July.

24,867 new cars found a buyer in Austria in July, a phenomenal +31.6% year-on-year lift. We remain 21% below the pre-pandemic level of July 2019 (31,454). The year-to-date volume is now up 9% to 167.918. Volkswagen (+41.4%) and Skoda (+37.4%) both outpace the market to keep the top two spots with 14.6% and 11.8% share respectively, each time above their YTD levels. BMW (+18%) is more muted but still delivers strong growth. Dacia (+86.8%) surges to #4 and 6.3% share, its best ranking and share since July 2022 when it reached a record #3 and 6.6% share. It however breaks its volume record at 1,558, its previous best being 1,222 last March. Seat (+52.2%) rounds out the Top 5 and is back above sister brand Cupra (+129.8%) at #10. Audi (-20%) craters and endures the only YoY fall in the Top 15. Hyundai (+168.4%) also impresses in the remainder of the Top 10. Below, Mitsubishi (+264.9%), BYD (+129.1%) and MG (+103.2%) stand out. Tesla is up 15.9%.

Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (+29.7%) returns to the top spot it holds year-to-date whereas the VW Golf (+97.5%), #3 for the month, led the charts over the Full Year 2024. The big event is in 2nd place: the new Dacia Duster signs its first Top 20 finish and shoot up directly to 2nd place with 2.4% share. This is the nameplate’s best ranking in the world so far, also hit in Iceland last May. The BMW X1 (+5.2%) is shy on strong year-ago volumes and reclaims the 4th position, like over FY2024 and YTD2025. The VW Bus (+230.8%) and Seat Ibiza (+49.7%) both surge while the new Skoda Elroq is up a further two ranks on June to an all time high 8th place.
