United Arab Emirates May 2025: Jetour (+92.2%), Geely (+77%) highlight negative market

The Geely Coolray is up to 7th place in the UAE in May.

New light vehicle sales in the United Arab Emirates slide down -6.8% year-on-year in May to 25,574 units. The year-to-date tally after five months however remains in positive at +4.9% to 132,033. Toyota (-4.6%) gains share slightly YoY to a fantastic 26.4% vs. 24.1% so far this year. In contrast Nissan (-29.3%) is in great difficulty at #2 with 11.5% of the market vs. 13.9% YTD. Mitsubishi (-0.1%) is stable and remains in third place above MG (+26.6%) and Jetour (+92.2%) both surging ahead. Another surging brand is Geely (+77%) up five spots on April to land in 6th place with 4.3% share. It ranks #10 with 3% over the first five months of the year.

Over in the models charts, the Toyota Hilux (+21.4%) confirms it has retained its grip, vastly distancing last year’s leader the Nissan Patrol (-13.2%). The Toyota Land Cruiser (+3.7%), Jetour T2 (+196.2%) and Ford Territory (+158.9%) ensure the Top 5 remains unchanged on April. The Toyota Ace (+3.2%) is back up 11 spots on last month to #6 and is followed by the Geely Coolray (+92.5%) up 29 to #7. The Toyota Prado (+13200%!) is up to #8 on a particularly low year-ago figure as the previous generation was in runout mode.
