49,531 new imported cars found a buyer in China in June, a -7.7% year-on-year regression. The year-to-date tally is now off -11.5% to 280,132. Like last month, Lexus (+14.7%) stands out as the only year-on-year gainer in the Top 10, lifting its monthly volume above 17,000 units. Mercedes (-4.4%) limits its fall to stay in 2nd place ahead of BMW (-21.5%), in deep trouble. Porsche (-6.7%) and Land Rover (-9.9%) keep their drop to single-digits, but Mini (-43.1%), Volkswagen (-41.3%), Audi (-34%) and Volvo (-31%) all freefall. Toyota (-12.2%) fares a little better but still trails the market. Further down, Suzuki (+352.8%), Maserati (+29.2%) and Jeep (-6.4%) manage upticks while newcomer Durant climbs to #16.
Model-wise, the Lexus ES (+8.9%) is once again head and shoulders above the competition with over 11,000 sales, much more than any other brand in market. The Lexus RX (+27.7%) surges ahead to remain above the Mercedes GLE (-15.3%) but ranks #3 year-to-date. The Lexus NX (+58.1%) is in even greater shape at #4 while the Porsche Cayenne (+20.2%), also very dynamic, is up to #5. The BMW 2 Series (+61.7%) is up two spots on May to #10, wit the Toyota Land Cruiser (+18.7%) and BMW 5 Series (+18.5%) also making themselves noticed below.
