Chile May 2025: Peugeot Partner #1 for the first time

The Peugeot Partner is the best-selling vehicles in Chile in May.

Third consecutive month in positive for Chilean new light vehicle sales at +4.3% year-on-year in May to 24,337 units. The year-to-date tally is also in positive, just, at +1.2% to 121,347. Chinese brands trail the market slightly to 30.8% share for the month, but China-made vehicles hold 38.7% share so far this year, well above India (10.4%) and Japan (7.8%). This month Suzuki (+5.1%) is back to #1 for the fourth time in the past five months but remains below Toyota (+12.7%) in the year-to-date charts. Chevrolet (-7.9%) suffers year-on-year but climbs back up three spots on April to #3. Hyundai (+1112.4%) compensates for a particularly poor year-ago result and ranks #4 with 6% share. Below a stable Kia (-0.1%), Ford (+28.8%), GWM (+14.8%) and Peugeot (+9.8%) post satisfying scores. Omoda/Jaecoo (+106.1%) is up to a record #15.

Over in the models charts, the Peugeot Partner (+128.8%) spectacularly scores its first ever win in Chile with 2.8% share, it ranks #3 year-to-date vs. #8 over 2024. The GWM Poer (+32.3%) also posts a fantastic result at #2, already the third time it holds this position this year. Leader last month, the Toyota Hilux (-21.2%) struggles but edges past the Mitsubishi L200 (+2.3%) to #1 year-to-date for just 6 sales. The Suzuki Baleno (+93.6%) almost doubles its sales year-on-year to #4 while the Chery Tiggo 2 is simply the best-selling SUV in the country for the month. Third Top 10 ranking of the year for the Omoda C5 (+91.2%) at #9.

Previous month: Chile April 2025: Toyota back in charge, made in China cars at 38.3% share
