Qatar Q1 2025: Jetour T2 threatens Toyota Land Cruiser for #1, Tank 500 in Top 10
The Tank 500 signs its first Top 10 finish in the world.
The Qatari new vehicle market soars +23.8% year-on-year over Q1 to 22,010 sales. Toyota (+9.6%) can’t catch up with the overall growth rate and sees its share decline from 32% to a still ultra dominant 28.3%. The most spectacular performance is delivered by Jetour, up 5-fold year-on-year to climb to 2nd place overall with 12.8% share. This is the brand’s best performance worldwide (much better than in China). Nissan (+18.5%) and Kia (-17.7%) both get knocked down one spot to #3 and #4 respectively while Lexus (+20.5%) is up two ranks to round out the Top 5. Geely (+31.3%) is the only additional Top 10 member to beat the market. Notice also Tank landing directly at #11 with 2.1% share.
Model-wise, the Toyota Land Cruiser (+0.2%) is stable and holds onto the pole position but drops from 13.3% share over Q1 2024 to 10.8% now. Strikingly, it is now threatened by the Jetour T2, up 9-fold year-on-year to a fantastic 9.3% share. The Nissan Patrol (+74.9%) rallies back up four spots to #3, distancing the Toyota Hilux (+1.8%) and Lexus LX (+23.4%) both down two ranks to close out the Top 5. The new TANK 500 directly storms into the Top 10 at #8 – the nameplate’s first Top 10 finish in the world – with the Toyota Urban Cruiser HEV (+548%) and Corolla (+89.4%) also posting fantastic results.
