Netherlands April 2025: Skoda Elroq threatens Kia EV3 for #1
The Skoda Elroq ends the month just 28 sales off the models top spot.
27,159 new cars found a buyer in the Netherlands in April, a -4% year-on-year contraction. The year-to-date tally is now off -8.7% to 118,683. HEV sales account for 49.1% of the market at 13,329 units, BEVs are at 33.9% thanks to 9,206 sales, petrol had 3,901 units (14.4% share) and diesel 613 (2.3% share). Kia (-12.8%) remains the runaway leader in the brands charts with 11.4% share and despite a stiff year-on-year loss. In contrast Skoda (+78.7%) surges six spots on last month to #2 and climbs to #7 year-to-date. Toyota (-13.2%) struggles at #3 while Renault (+58%) shoots up and repeats at #4. Ford (+44.7%), Peugeot (+17.3%) and BMW (+15%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10.
Over in the models lane, the new Kia EV3 signs a 4th consecutive month on top but is threatened this month by another new model: the Skoda Elroq up 34 ranks on March to #2, just 28 units below the EV3. Kia places three models in the Top 4 with the Niro (-62.9%) at #3 and the Picanto (-14.6%) at #4. The Toyota Yaris Cross (+11.1%) is up 15 spots on last month to #5, distancing the Skoda Kodiaq (+707%), VW Tiguan (+239.3%), Citroen C3 (+223.1%) and Opel Corsa (+100%) all in outstanding shape. The Volvo XC40 (+67.7%) rounds out the Top 10 in spectacular fashion.
