Denmark April 2025: Skoda Elroq takes control

The Skoda Elroq is the best-selling vehicle in Denmark in April.

New car sales in Denmark edge down -1.3% year-on-year in April to 15,118 units while the year-to-date volume is up a shy 0.6% to 52,555. Strikingly, the Top 6 brands all defy the negative market with at least double-digit gains. Volkswagen (+54.2%) easily keeps the lead of the brands charts with 14.9% share while Skoda soars 172.6% to 2nd place with 11.1% share vs. 7.6% so far this year where it climbs to #3. Cupra (+263%) is by far the most dynamic and advances to #5 with a new record volume (1,187) and share (7.9%), yet its ranking best remains #3 last February. This is to be compared with just 38 sales and 0.3% share (-7.3%) for sister brand Seat. Audi (+41.8%), BMW (+36.4%) and Mercedes (+13%) also shine.

Model-wise, the new Skoda Elroq brilliantly tops the charts for its 4th month in market, and a clear victory at that with 6.8% share. It jumps from #14 to #4 year-to-date. The VW ID.4 (+30.8%) is relegated to 2nd place but still posts a strong year-on-year uptick. The Audi Q4 e-tron (-3.9%) closes out the podium ahead of the Toyota bZ4X (+215%) and VW ID.3 (+56.2%). The Skoda Enyaq (+105%) ensures the Top 6 is entirely composed of BEVs. Exceptional performances also by the Cupra Formentor (+94.6%), Audi A5 (+288.6%) and VW T-Roc (+188.6%). The new Cupra Terramar scores its first ever To 10 finish at #10. Notice also the arrival of the Rivian R1S with one sale.
