China imports April 2025: Lexus (+12.7%), BMW (+4.4%) stand out
BMW 4 Series sales are up 19.2% in April.
Imports of new cars in China add up to 48,368 in April, a -5% year-on-year decline. This brings the year-to-date volume to 182,663, off -11.4% over the same period last year. Once again Lexus (+12.7%) defies the negative market with a sturdy year-on-year gain, now selling almost double any other brand in market. Mercedes (-1.9%) and BMW (+4.4%) round out the podium like last month and YTD. Up two spots on last month to #4, Porsche (-14.8%) is nevertheless in trouble, as is the rest of the Top 10: Volkswagen (-44.7%), Mini (-41.5%), Audi (-23.6%), Land Rover (-23.5%), Volvo (-19.4%) and Toyota (-12.1%) all fall faster than the market.
Model-wise, the Lexus ES (+9.6%) sells almost four times the amount of the #2, the Lexus RX (+25.5%) is splendid shape. The Mercedes GLE (-11.8%) stays in third place while the Porsche Cayenne (+5%) is up seven spots on March to #4. Excellent performances also by the Lexus NX (+29.6%), BMW 4 Series (+19.2%) and Porsche Cayenne (+5%).
