Chile April 2025: Toyota back in charge, made in China cars at 38.3% share
The Toyota Hilux is the best-selling vehicle in Chile in April.
26,132 new light vehicles found a buyer in Chile in April, a 2.5% year-on-year improvement. This way, the year-to-date volume tilts into positive at +0.4% to 97,010 units. Toyota (+33.8%) lodges a splendid performance and wrestles back control of the brands charts both for the month and year-to-date. It dislodges Suzuki (-1.7%) despite the latter being up 19.3% year-to-date. Hyundai (+4.9%) is solid at #3, distancing Kia (+17.7%) and Ford (+18.2%) both surging. Maxus (+29.1%) and Mitsubishi (+25.5%) post the largest gains inside the Top 10. As a whole, Chinese brands account for 30.4% of the market in April and 29.2% year-to-date, vs. 27.9% for Japanese marques and 14.1% for both South Korean and American brands. However 38.3% of vehicles sold in Chile since the start of the year were made in China vs. 10.2% in India, 7.8% in Japan and 7.3% in Brazil.
Over in the models ranking, the Toyota Hilux (+49.7%) is up three spots on last month to land in pole position for the 4th time in the past six months. The Mitsubishi L200 (+25.3%) is up four ranks to #2 and remains in the YTD top spot. The Maxus T60 (+53.8%) surges 17 spots to #3 and makes the podium 100% pickup trucks. The Peugeot Partner (+52.2%), Suzuki Baleno (+119.8%), Kia Soluto (+82.5%) and GWM Poer (+28.9%) also manage outstanding gains below. Leader last month, the Chery Tiggo 2 falls back to #9 but ranks #6 year-to-date.
