Taiwan March 2025: CMC (+32.7%), Toyota (+19.8%) defy struggling market

The CMC J Space repeats at a record third place.

37,281 new cars found a buyer in Taiwan in March, a harsh -9.8% year-on-year fall. The Q1 2025 volume is off an equally disappointing -11.2% to 99,860. Toyota (+19.8%) dries the surrounding gloom to land an ultra dominant 31.6% market share. It is followed by fellow Toyota Group member Lexus (-0.7%) at 6.8%. Just below is a surging CMC (+32.7%) up to 6.7% share. Honda (-17.5%) sinks but Mercedes (+9.9%) jumps. Ford (+14.7%) and BMW (+6.3%) also excel in the remainder of the Top 10 but Tesla (-38.5%) and Hyundai (-21.5%) are hit hard.

Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla Cross (+65.3%) secures a 5th consecutive monthly win with 10.1% of the market. It is followed as usual by the Toyota RAV4 (+36%) also in outstanding shape. The new CMC J Space repeats at a record third place ahead of the Toyota Town Ace (-10.6%) and Toyota Yaris Cross (-0.3%). The Mercedes GLC Class (+57.8%) is up seven spots on February to #7 and now ranks #8 year-to-date. The Tesla Model 3 is inside the Top 10, with the Hyundai Porter (+54.7%) and Ford Kuga (+71.6%) outstanding below.
