Portugal March 2025: Renault Clio #1, Fiat 600 breaks into Top 10

The Fiat 600 ranks #7 in Portugal in March.

New car sales in Portugal are up a solid 7.8% year-on-year to 24,578 in March, reducing the YTD fall to -0.8% to 58,545. Peugeot (+22.3%) surges ahead to cement its domination of the brands charts with 10.7% share. Renault (+3.7%) remains in 2nd place while Mercedes (+1.8%) overtakes Dacia (-13.4%) for #3. BMW (+24.6%) posts a fantastic score but stays at #5. Volkswagen (+22.7%) also shines at #9 just as Tesla (+2.1%) edges up at #8. BYD (+222.5%) is the most impressive gainer further down, with Mitsubishi (+31.9%), Ford (+28.5%) and Jeep (+26.4%) also making themselves noticed.

The Renault Clio (+13.5%) ascends to first place with a round 5% share, signing its first monthly win in exactly a year: since March 2024. Just below is the Peugeot 2008 (+123.1%) more than doubling its year-ago volume to rank at #2 but taking the overall YTD lead. The Tesla Model 3 (-4.9%) limits its fall and climbs seven spots on last month to #3. It ranks #6 over Q1 vs. #3 over the Full Year 2024. The Citroen C3 (+88.6%) and Dacia Duster (+130.1%) both lodge exceptional gains below but the best performance of all is delivered by the Fiat 600 (+3505.9%!), up 50 ranks on February to break into the Portuguese Top 10 for the first time at #7. Leader over the Full Year 2024, the Dacia Sandero (-43.5%) endures an uncharacteristically mediocre month at #9.
