Thailand January 2025: Isuzu D-Max back in charge, BYD Sealion 7 lands at #6

The BYD Sealion 7 is an instant blockbuster in Thailand.

63,614 new light vehicles found a Thai home in January, compared to 29,966 in December. Toyota remains ultra dominant at 36.8% share, however this is markedly below its FY2024 level of 40.3%. Isuzu shows signs of recovery and climbs back up past Honda to 2nd place with 14.1% share. In fact, this is more due to weak results by Honda at 11.7% share vs. 14% over FY2024. BYD advances to #4 for the 2nd time in the past 6 months while Mitsubishi rounds out the Top 5. MG is up to 3.5% share vs. 2.7% last year and Changan is up to #8 and 2.9% share vs. #14 and 1% over FY2024. GAC Aion also impresses at #10 with 1.6% share vs. #15 and 0.9% over FY2024. We welcome Denza landing directly #14.

Model-wise, the Isuzu D-Max (11.3% share) benefits from an off month from the Toyota Hilux (9.3% vs. 12.9% in FY2024) to take charge for the first time in at least 6 months. The Toyota Yaris Ativ, Yaris Cross and Honda City camp on their traditional rankings to close up the Top 5. Astonishing result for the BYD Sealion 7 landing directly at #6 with 2.8% share for its first appearance in the ranking. The Isuzu MU-X is up three spots on last month to #7 and the Honda HR-V up nine to #8. The Changan Deepal S07 is up to #13 vs. #26 over the FY2024.
